Ramblings

Yes, that was me on the dance floor last night, doing the Macarena…and  dancing to “Sweet Caroline” and “Dancing Queen” …

And let’s not forget this one

It was a fun wedding,  very untraditional.

Apparently I have reached the age where half of my contacts have the same first name: Doctor. I guess it’s better than the alternative. But apparently, the days where I can donate blood may be over. My doctor told me not to do that for the next six months; nothing is seriously wrong but my blood work was not what it should be. The things you do to stay healthy. And staying healthy has become very important to me. I feel better now at 66 than I did at 56. I want to keep feeling good

I’m not switching gyms just yet. I want to make sure that the habit sticks before I invest more money. But I have been going twice a week so I think it is going to be part of who I am from now on. The gym  that I have in mind has yoga classes, which would be interesting. I wouldn’t have to sign up for yoga at the park. And the new gym would be closer to my house, which is always a good thing. But I will wait until I know that I’m going to keep this up. And also, possibly, discounts that may be offered in January, when everybody joins the gym.

In the meantime, I am going to the gym twice a week. The crowd meter says that the place is half empty, and it does feel uncomplicated and easy to deal with.  I don’t like waiting for equipment.

I am loving my new Fitbit Edge.  It is giving me the metrics that I’m looking for. Metrics that I would never have imagined seeing when I bought my first Fitbit 10 years ago. Yeah, brand loyalty — though I am also enjoying how Apple Health  interprets data. Yes, I connected Apple Health and Google Health, and also connected MyFitnessPal to the two. And they are all driven by AI.That’s a slightly scary thought.

Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to think about Thanksgiving. We do a Friendsgiving the weekend after the holiday. I’m thinking about what recipes to make this year.  After  Thanksgiving is Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  The year is going by so quickly.

Drew and I have an ongoing “battle” this time of year.  His favorite radio station starts playing Christmas music on November 1, and he loves it. I am not ready for Christmas music until Santa‘s sleigh arrives in Herald Square.  I will successfully avoid Christmas songs until the Macy’s parade.

Hey, Macarena …
