Gluten free!
Yesterday’s destination:
Yes, the Meadowlands. In the shadow of MetLife Stadium.
And what brought us to lovely Secaucus, NJ?
The nation’s biggest gluten free expos are brought to us by Wicked Gluten Free.
I’d been to one of their festivals on Long Island in May 2024, about a year after my diagnosis. It was fun to explore all the different vendors, fun to eat whatever I wanted without having to read a label or ask a lot of questions.
So when I heard they were doing an expo in the Meadowlands…it’s about an hour and a half away from our home, definitely worth the effort.
There were a lot of vendors at this expo, some national brands and some small businesses. Many were handing out free samples. There were also food trucks. We had planned to buy lunch, but I was so full from the free samples …
We came home with two full shopping bags.
I almost cried when I tasted one brand of stuffing. Stuffing was always my favorite thing at Thanksgiving, but it’s hard to get right when using gluten free bread. But this stuffing was amazing. I bought two packages.
We tasted a rum cake that was as good as any I’ve ever had in the Caribbean. When the baker told us it freezes well, we bought one for our Friendsgiving.
I have three different brands of gluten free pastas. And “unicorn cookies” — a type of sugar cookie. And we bought three bags of Hoppy Pop kernel-free popcorn.
Now I’m thinking about going to their expo in Connecticut. Or maybe the one in Philadelphia.
