Saturday 9

Consider Me Gone

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Consider Me Gone (2009)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, poor Reba McEntire confronts a lover who makes her feel like she's not good enough. Let's go in a more positive direction: Who in your life makes you feel happy and secure?

Drew.

2) Reba hopes her lover will look back on her as someone who used to make him laugh. Who did you most recently laugh with?

Drew constantly tries to make me laugh.  He’s got a repertoire of Dad jokes, bad puns, etc.

3) She was director James Cameron's first choice to play Molly Brown in the 1997  blockbuster Titanic, but she had to turn down the role because she was committed to a concert tour. Think of the last invitation you received. Did you say yes or no?

We have been invited to the cast party of HMS Pinafore. Drew was in the chorus of this community theater production.  Of course we are going.

4) Reba comes from a rodeo family: both her father and grandfather were champion steer ropers and her mother was a barrel racer. Have you ever been to a rodeo?

Nope.

5) She loves game nights with family and friends because she says she's "a competitive person." When you play friendly board or card games, do you always play to win?

Yes. Unless I’m playing with a child, of course.

6) Reba wears tall boots all the time, even in summer, and has more than 100 pairs. Do you often wear boots?

Funny you should mention boots.  I took great pleasure in buying and wearing boots last winter.

Why?

It’s one of the benefits of having lost 125 pounds.   Before the weight loss, my legs were so heavy I couldn’t find boots that fit.  Even ankle books were a problem.  Not anymore!

But I can’t imagine wearing boots in the summer.  Summer is flip flop season.

7) In 2009, when this song was popular, Mark Zuckerberg tried unsuccessfully to buy Twitter. Elon Musk acquired it in 2022 and renamed it X. Do you often post to Twitter/X?

No.  You’ll find me on Facebook, Instagram, Threads and occasionally Bluesky, but I stopped posting on Twitter a long time ago.

8) Back in 2009, DuPont announced that silver and black were the most popular vehicle colors, accounting for half the cars the world over. What color is your ride?

My Prius C is blue.  I named it Peanut.  Jeff Dunham fans will understand. It’s a 2013, but it’s got less than 70,000 miles on it, and I love it.

Drew leases his car.  He just traded in his black Pacifica for a newer gray Pacifica.

9) Random question: Have you ever had a job that required you to wear a hairnet?

Nope.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Does Drew like his Pacifica? He must if he replaced one with another! I rented one last year, and the only positive I could say about it is the seats folded into the floor to allow all the cargo I had to fit. I drive a 2000 Explorer (just turned 100,000 miles) and maybe because it's older it's less fuel conscious and therefore better AC and more power on the mountain passes. I'd rented a Honda Pilot a few weeks earlier, and it had less power, worse AC too, but it had great gas mileage. The Pacifica's blind spot alarm was startling!

  3. They do make boots with wide calves. You just have to look in specific places. Not that I wear boots, either. Sneakers are the way to go.

  4. Thats great about the new boots fitting. Yes to flip flops! I have winter boots and wear them a few times during our coldest days. I have some snow boots that I only bring out every few years when we go to the mountains. Luckily my size does not change.

  5. I get the Peanut reference. I am not as big a fan of Dunham as I used to be, but his earlier work is very funny. We watch his Christmas special on DVD every year.

  6. Was it a joy to buy all new clothes? (I bet it was.)
