another this and that

So ...My Stupid Knees...I've been approved for another round of gel injections, and I have a scrip for physical therapy ...if I can find the time for it.  I hope I get some relief; riding the subway has been murder lately.

The orthopedist told me that losing weight might help.  I've lost 10 pounds since January 1st (yay me!) but it hasn't helped the knees...yet.

Time to stop whining though...

We've had unseasonably warm weather the last few days.  Trust me when I say I am not complaining.  No sign of the "s" word anywhere in the forecast.

We're planning our annual excursion to Bob Howard's General Store for free egg creams.  The store sells nostalgia -- candy and toys that were popular when baby boomers were growing up.   And every February they celebrate the store's anniversary by serving  egg creams.  Never had an egg cream?  here's a recipe.  (And it's not a real egg cream if the syrup isn't fox's U-Bet!)

I've finished all 8 episodes of The Mandalorian, can't wait for next season.  There are  only 4 more episodes of Dr. Who  this season (boo!), but Picard is fascinating, and season 2 of Manifest has finally begun. And I'm still a season behind on Mrs. Maisel and The Handmaid's Tale.

Current read:

The Deserter: A Novel (Scott Brodie Series) by [DeMille, Nelson, DeMille, Alex]

One of the things I really like about DeMille, he's a Long Islander, and his books set in NYC and Long island ring true .  this book starts in Pakistan and just keeps moving.  so far, so good.

And then there's this:

Think I'm a bit excited about my birthday?  You'd think I was turning 6 instead of 60...

But I am milking it for all I can.

  1. 60 is a great age! I also enjoyed the celebrations. My daughter took me to Mohegan Sun! I also wore a crown the entire time!
Egg Cremes. Huh. A New York thing. I can't recall I have ever had them.
Good luck with your knees and congratulations on the weight loss. I know it's tough, but I know you can do it!!!

  2. S word, you mean sugarsnapdragon? (giggling)--its a coming, I am afraid...sigh.

I am so sick of the dr. and this nonsense just loose weight (just my 2 cents). I'm 52, not 11. My skinny minnie days are long gone. The dr. also tells my husband that, "Loose weight in that gut and everything will be better." Like that's the magic cure for everything. It is a fact as we get older our metabolisms slow down. We are active older adults, at least we are not sitting on the couch. (I have issues, don't I?) grin---

HA on the graphic, thanks for the smiles. Wishing you a very happy birthday month. smiles

  3. I really think doctors over "prescribe" losing weight. It might help a bit, but I think your doc is thinking that's going to help the knees more than it will. If you're in pain, they need to help you with the pain.

I'm watching Mrs. Maisel with my dad (who has Amazon Prime while I don't). We've got one more episode of season 2. I love that show.

    1. I agree, they present weight loss as a cure all...but it does help.
