Man-made lake attracts all sorts of waterfowl. I usually see ducks and geese. But sometimes there are other birds, too.
This time around, I saw Canadian geese and a pair of double-crested cormorant -- sea birds taking a break in a freshwater pond.
There was one duck, just one. A female mallard, I think.
The geese wanted to swim, too.
People would be amazed at the variety of wildlife in urban areas. Those Canada geese, though - they've taken over parks where I live upstate. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteCanadian geese are huge! There were some nearby a couple months ago. I've never seen a cormorant before, though.
ReplyDeleteThe geese are local, they don't migrate. But we also get migratory geese, so in the spring and fall we see a lot ...cormorants are interesting. They're different from other waterfowl. After they swim they have to find a place to spread their wings so they can dry off.
