Ramblings
So we had a snow storm Friday night. The hype on TV made it sound like we were expecting a major blizzard, maybe even the storm of the century. What actually happened? About 4”. Maybe 5”. Not terrible. Easily cleaned up. We’re expecting another storm tonight, mostly rain. So the snow won’t last.
The crystal ball has been raised at One Times Square, ready for Wednesday night. A new year, with new possibilities.
The ball will have a patriotic theme this year, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Yeah, the Bicentennial — the big celebration when I was a teenager — was 50 years ago.
And if that wasn’t enough to make me feel old …
When I was in the ER the other night, the nurse asked me when was the last time I got a tetanus shot. Turns out that the last time I got the shot was before my nurse was born.
(So yes, I got an updated tetanus shot … actually, the combination shot that includes diphtheria and pertussis. I am very much in favor of vaccines.)
Got my hair done Saturday.
Yeah, my eye is still purple.
A friend suggested I get arnica gel. I’m going to try it.
Honestly, though, it looks a lot better when I’m wearing my glasses. And I’m going to try concealer, of course.
And I’ve got a story to tell.
