More this and that

I’ve mentioned several times that Drew and I are members of the New York Wildlife Conservation Society, the organization responsible for the Bronx Zoo, and that we’ve been to the zoo many times.

I had an early-morning doctor’s appointment Friday.  I decided to wear the shirt I bought at the zoo last May. It’s a great shirt, it’s got a picture of a rhino and says “Save the chubby unicorn”.

Drew was still asleep when I left the house.  He was gone when I came home, out running errands. So you can imagine my surprise when Drew came home and I saw that he was wearing a souvenir t shirt from the Bronx Zoo.  We really must be on the same wavelength.

As for my doctor’s appointment … he is very pleased with me.  I got on the scale at his office … the last time I saw that number was in 1985.  I’m in better shape now than I was 10 years ago.

Which is so important.  I’ve seen far too many of my friends lose mobility, even independence, and I don’t want to go down that road for a long, long time.

I really can’t believe we’re coming down to the final days of summer.  There’s still so much I want to do!   We’ve got a few more Ducks games lined up, and we have plans to go to the Renaissance Faire.  And I’d like to spend a day on the East End, visiting the wineries and farm stands.  We haven’t done that in a few years.

And of course we’re doing a barbecue Labor Day weekend.

We didn’t take a vacation this summer.  We’re going on a road trip in September. Destination: Williamsburg, Virginia.

Yes, we are history geeks.  We visited Colonial Williamsburg back in July 2012, and loved it so much we decided a repeat visit was warranted.  But summer in that part of Virginia is extremely hot and humid,  but September weather is much more pleasant.  Let the planning begin.
