1) Etta James sings that "life is like a song." What song reflects how you feel about life these days?
2) She is delighted to have found the love she has always dreamed of. Have you found true love to be the way you imagined it would be? Or has it surprised you?
If you know anything about my life, you know the answer to that … Drew and I have a very long history, we dated, broke up, dated, broke up, dated, got engaged, got married, got divorced, reconciled…
That’s not what I imagined my life to be.
3) Etta's mother encouraged her to not just sing but perform a song, telling her daughter, "Even if a song has been done a thousand times, you can still bring something of your own to it." Is there a singer whose performances often touch your heart?
4) As a teen, she was considered a gospel prodigy and churches all around Los Angeles requested she "guest" at their services. Do you have a favorite religious song?
My answer is going to be very different from most participants’. My favorite religious performer is Cantor Debbie Friedman. She wrote new tunes for traditional Jewish prayers as well as original songs. Here’s one of my favorites.
5) "At Last" is one of the most often requested songs for the newlywed's first dance at the reception. What song reminds you of a sweetheart?
This is the last Saturday 9 before Valentine's Day and so this morning we shall focus on the upcoming holiday.
6) It's been reported that millions of roses are grown specifically for Valentine's Day each year. What's your favorite flower?
I’m easy to please, buy me almost any flower and I’ll be happy. But if you really want to know, red roses are my favorite.
7) The earliest recorded celebration of Valentine's Day was in Paris in the year 1400. Obviously you weren't around for that one. What do you remember from one of your earliest, childhood Valentine's Day celebrations?
I have a vague recollection of getting funny cards and candy at school. Nothing remarkable.
8) About 20% of pet owners say they give their dogs, cats, birds or bunnies a Valentine. Is your pet getting something special on February 14?

9) Of all the professions, teachers are #1 when it comes to receiving Valentine cards. Did you ever have a crush on a teacher?
Oh boy …
I was in 7th grade (1972-1973), my first year of junior high, and I decided to try out for the spring musical. Mr. G was the drama club advisor. He was young, he was cute, he was fun to be with. I never had a class with him, but I thoroughly enjoyed drama club…
Fast forward to fall 2003. My daughters were in middle school, the same school that I attended in the 70’s. Jen’s 8th grade class schedule arrived … her English teacher was Mr. G!
Meet the Teacher night … my heart was pounding when I walked into that classroom … and yes, he was still cute and still a lot of fun.
It’s a shame he retired when Becca was in 7th grade, she would have enjoyed being in his class.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my time here. I liked the video on Miriam! I will be discussing her at my next Bible journaling class. Happy Together brings back good memories. My girlfriend married her high school physics teacher, and they will be married 50 years in June. My grandson had the same kinder teacher as his mom.

ReplyDelete#9 All though school, it was you brother did this, your brother did that. In one class the teacher kept comparing my with my brother that I dropped out of class.

ReplyDeleteMy teacher crush was also a Mr. G and he was still around to teach my son. Unfortunately, while he remained a real sweetheart, he left "hottie" behind.

ReplyDeleteWhen I told him the names of the kids who had the leads in the plays I was in, he said he remembered me. I wonder if he was being truthful or if he was trying to make me feel good.
