 T is for “Taxi” Harry Chapin’s first big hit. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know I was a fan.  Chapin made his home in Huntington, NY, on Long Island’s north shore.  He loved to visit public schools in the area.  And one of those schools was my high school.  Chapin did a concert there in 1975, and the price of admission was … a donation to fight world hunger.  That was his cause, he did so many benefit concerts.   It was the very first concert I attended, and it gave me an appreciation of live music. I saw Chapin perform twice when I was in college.  I went to school in Albany, NY.  Chapin did a concert in nearby Schenectady, and of course a group of us had to go. And then there was the arts festival in  Heckscher Park in  Huntington.  Chapin sang at the festival, and also signed autographs.  He signed my frisbee and kissed my cheek!  I was in Heaven. They’ve named the Heckscher Park stage for Chapin...

 So…it’s one of Drew’s favorite musicals, and the current revival is playing at Lincoln Center. We saw the show Thursday night. We took the subway from Penn Station.  All the usual craziness, including the young lady who was yelling at her imaginary friend, the lady who banged on the closing subway car door as if that would get it to open, the guy stretched across four seats and using his backpack as a pillow … and all the losers who pretended not to see the man using the walker so that they wouldn’t have to offer him a seat. We got to Lincoln Center early, had a chance to sit by the fountain and people watch, and Drew made friends with someone’s dog. And then we went into the theater.  Our normal theater routine is to split a pack of Twizzlers.  Guess that won’t be happening anymore. As for the show …Aaron Sorkin rewrote the book for this show, and the changes are …interesting.  Still, it’s an enjoyable show.   Afterwards we had dinner at P. J. Clarke’s. ...

 My first gluten free cooking fail. I bought gluten free pasta that was also kosher for Passover.  It was made with potato flour.   I made a marinara sauce to go with it.  It wasn’t bad, but I had a lot of leftovers.  So I divided the leftovers into single serving containers and froze them.  When I reheated the pasta, it dissolved into a sticky mess.  Potato flour is very delicate, isn’t it?  I think I’ll stick with the corn-based pasta. Though I just found out I won’t be eating Twizzler anymore.  It seems they contain wheat flour!  Who would have thought that type of candy would contain wheat? I found out about the Twizzlers when we went to the theater.  We saw the revival of Camelot, one of Drew’s favorite musicals (more about that later). My very lucky daughter is visiting her friend in Houston this weekend.  Her friend who happened to have tickets to the Taylor Swift concert … I am so disappointed.  Jimmy Buffett hasn’...

I’ve been a Star Trek  fan since the 1960’s.  I’ve watched every incarnation of the show on broadcast tv, I’ve seen every movie.  I haven’t seen most of the new shows that are only available on streaming services (yet), though I do like Picard .   In my younger days I used to buy the novels and  merchandise related to the show (I still have a tribble), and even went to a few conventions.
