another this and that

So the Ducks lost...congrats to the Lexington Legends on becoming Atlantic League champs. Sigh.  At least they kept it interesting until the very end. Sigh.  There's always next year. It sounds like law enforcement may have found Brian Laundrie.  Or rather, his remains.  Maybe now Gabby can rest in peace. The weather has definitely changed.  It is really starting to feel like autumn.  I've seen some color in the trees, too. Today I had to sit through the annual "don't harass your coworkers" training.  You'd think, with all the training corporations give on the topic, that there wouldn't be a lot of inappropriate conduct in the workplace.  But you'd be wrong... A good chunk of my time is spent defending employers against harassment complaints.  Sigh. I think I'll go for a walk and get some fresh air...

Let’s Go Ducks

It’s do or die tonight. The championship is a five game series.  Ducks lost the first game here on Long Island, then won the second game. Game 3 was in Kentucky last night, and the Ducks lost. They must win tonight to force a game 5.

All Rise

Live theater, how I missed you! Broadway is back.  You have to wear a mask, and they won’t let you in the theater unless you’ve been vaccinated, but oh my … when the house lights go down and the curtain goes up … We saw  To Kill A Mockingbird  Saturday night. To quote from the website: Inspired by Lee’s own childhood in Alabama,  To Kill a Mockingbird  features one of literature’s towering symbols of integrity and righteousness in the character of Atticus Finch, based on Lee’s own father. The character of Scout, based on Lee herself, has come to define youthful innocence—and its inevitable loss—for generation after generation of readers around the world. In a Library of Congress survey on books that have most affected people’s lives,  To Kill a Mockingbird  was second only to the Bible. In 1999, American librarians named it the “Best Novel of the Twentieth Century.” Now, for the first time ever, Harper Lee’s open-hearted dissection of justice and...

Music Monday

And it's a "your choice" week. Halloween is approaching, so how about theme songs from spooky TV shows? Let's start with Dark Shadows . How about The Munsters ? And if you mention the Musters, what else do you think of? Let's move on to something different Buffy is always interesting. Hitchcock was always the master. Are you Bewitched? Of course there is the classic... And finally, returning to the Dark Shadow s theme, here's a little video I shot a few years ago.

Wednesday is Sunday/Sunday Stealing does the Wednesday Hodgepodge

Image
Hi! I'm your host Bev Sykes of the blog " Funny the World ". . Welcome to Sunday Stealing. This feature originated and published on WTIT: The Blog. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves! Stolen (and edited) from "This Side of the Pond"      I had to do a double take when I saw Bev’s post.  I’m a regular on Joyce’s Hodgepodge every Wednesday.  I’ve probably answered most of these questions before.     1. What's something you've recently accomplished solo? I am pretty independent.  I do a lot by myself.  I recently assembled a bookcase I bought on Amazon.  That surprised me, I’m usually not so handy. 2.  What's one product you use that never ever fails? K cups.  You can’t mess up. Just pop it in the coffeemaker and you’ll get a decent cup of coffee...

Saturday 9

Image
Livin' La Vida Loca Welcome to  Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme! Saturday 9: Livin' La Vida Loca (1999) Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it  here . 1) Ricky Martin sings that he and the girl dance in the rain. Do you feel like dancing this morning? Yes, it's Saturday, I've got good plans for the weekend, and I feel like dancing. 2) The lyrics tell us the girl prefers champagne. When did you last enjoy a glass of the bubbly? Champagne?  Probably New Year's Eve.  But I do like a glass of prosecco every now and then.     3) When Ricky firs...
