songbird's crazy world

it happened again last night. Becca came into my room: please Mom, it's important. I hear those words and I shudder. it means there's some kind of emergency. or at least somethng Becca perceives as being an emergency. I've told both girls, many times, that if there's a dangerous situation -- drinking, drugs, violence, whatever, I will come and get them, no questions asked, because my first priority is their safety. Becca has interpreted this statement to include her friends. Last night I found myself picking up one of her friends and bringing the young lady back to our house for the night. she'd had an argument with her parents, was wandering around the neighborhood in the dark and was reluctant to go home. when she heard I was coming to get her, she did go home briefly to get her things and to tell her parents where she was going.

the once and future significant other has gone to florida to visit his father, and won't be back until Saturday.

the once and future significant other aned I have been talking about going away for a long weekend together. He is a high school social studies teacher. my undergraduate diegree is in history. so we're in his living room Saturday night watching Nicholas Cage in "National treasure" and the idea comes to me. Washington, DC. Perfect choice for two history geeks.

My new significant other ....isn't exactly "new". we've known each other for about ....oh, 30 years. In fact, I was at his wedding. You can see me in some of the pictures. I was the one wearing the white gown and the veil. don't ask me how this happened, but somehow I have come full circle, and I am dating my ex-husband. Just a few years I go I would have said this would be impossible. Lord help us both.

...you're not supposed to drive while taking percoset. I am quite literally falling asleep at my desk. at least my back is better. when I went to the ER I thought I was going to die from the pain.
