Music Monday
And our host has asked for Glenn Miller songs.
I’m doing something slightly different. Glenn Miller songs by other artists.
The Andrews Sisters covered “In the Mood”
Barry Manilow covered “Chattanooga Choo Choo”
Brian Seltzer’s take on a Miller classic
Old Blue Eyes himself…
And because we like to end with big dance numbers, here are Lynda Carter and Ben Vereen

ReplyDeleteEnjoyed these covers, especially Brian Setzer's modern take on Pennsylvania 6-5000. And yes, Barry Manilow. Fun fact about the Chattanooga Choo Choo (actually the railroad station); it was saved from demolition and has been a hotel for some 50 years. We were in Chattanooga briefly in 2006 and never went downtown to check it out. Our loss! Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful, a train station that is now a hotel.
DeleteRobin,
ReplyDeleteWhew this week has really been hectic on this end and I'm sorry for just now getting over to dance with you. Please forgive me, my dear. Your music picks are great. I had had nearly forgotten about Ben Vereen. Didn't he have a variety show back in the late 70s or early 80s? The video clip looks familiar and since Linda Carter is in it then I figured it had to be from her Wonder Woman days. The variety shows on TV from yesterday were put together so well. There was so much entertainment usually with some big stars packed in a typical 60 minute time slot that it's mind blowing to think about. I always liked when Glenn Miller paired up with the Andrew Sisters. They had such beautiful harmonizing voices. Did you notice how much "In the Mood" makes you think of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"? Thanks for hitting the 4M dance floor this week, darlin'. Have a boogietastic week! ;)
