Music Monday

No holiday music here, didn’t have time to put anything together.  I have my reliable backup post though, so here we go …

So it was 1981, and I was a 21-year-old college student. It was a violent year -- Pope John Paul II was shot, John Hinkley tried to kill President Reagan, and Anwar Sadat was assassinated.  Sandra Day O'Connor became the first female Justice on the US Supreme Court. The first  flight of the space shuttle Columbia was a success. The NY Islanders won the Stanley Cup, but the Dodgers beat the Yankees in the World Series. Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles. Cats premiered in London's West End. 42nd Street won a Tony. We were reading Cujo by Stephen King and Cosmos by Carl Sagan. Popular movies included Arthur, For Your Eyes Only and Flash Gordon. On the TV you could find M*A*S*H, Dallas and One Day At A Time.

And the music?

Kim Carnes

Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty

Styx

Foreigner

The Go-Go's

Eddie Rabbitt

Blondie

And Rod Stewart

What a great year it was!
