Bored on the Belt
The screen shot from Waze tells the story. Rush hour traffic on the Belt Parkway. No fun.
So I, the passenger, start playing with the cell phone camera.
Large ships are headed towards New York Harbor:
You can see Coney Island:
A little autumn color along the road:
But don't forget you're actually driving through Brooklyn and Queens. I love this shot, plane was landing at JFK:
Interesting...I forget NY does have it tree but I only picture it with sky scapers.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
I've only been on the Belt going from the Van Wyck to Exit 5 (Ocean Parkway where my late aunt and uncle lived) so I've never seen the stretch where Coney Island is visible. And, in fact, it's been 24 years since I've been to Coney Island. Time flies!
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to respond to Pepperlady - I grew up in New York City and you might be surprised at the wildlife refuges you can find, and all the trees and wildlife. Many people think of Midtown Manhattan with al the skyscrapers and Times Square as being New York City but there is so much more to this great city. I sometimes feel that I haven't given the city of my birth sufficient coverage on my blog but I do have a complex relationship with NYC. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYou’re right, Alana, it’s a complex and interesting city.
ReplyDeleteYou need to get one of those GoPros so you can video the drive. Of course, that wouldn't give you something to do.
