Are you aware of the Celiac Safety Act and the ADINA (Allergen Disclosure in Non-food Articles) Act?  Two bills currently pending before the House of Representatives.

The Celiac Safety Act would require manufacturers to clearly label all products containing wheat, barley, or rye. By expanding the list of federally recognized major food allergens beyond just wheat, this legislation seeks to provide safe, transparent choices for the 3 million Americans living with celiac disease.  The ADINA Act would require plain-language labeling of major food allergens and gluten on all prescription and over-the-counter medications. Named after a Minnesota teen who suffered severe reactions from undisclosed ingredients, it aims to protect patients with food allergies and celiac disease.

I spend so much time reading labels and I still miss some items that contain gluten.

But I did find a new gluten free product.

Banzai makes chickpea pasta.  The soup is definitely Campbell’s, and the pasta isn’t bad.  I would have preferred noodles or stars or orzo, but I am enjoying this soup.

Though to be honest, Annie’s chicken & pasta is probably a healthier choice. Less sodium, for starters.

Of course, homemade is better, but I don’t have the time, the energy, or the space in my freezer …

Finally got a chance to use the backyard yesterday.  I sat on the patio for awhile.  It was lovely!

Trying to figure out what this plant is.

The bees seem to really like those white flowers.

After last weekend, I’m really looking forward to some normalcy this weekend.  We’ve got tickets to a Ducks game Saturday.  Dare I say it, the first place Ducks?

Considering how disappointing the Mets have been …

And with a little luck, the weather will be nice on Sunday and I’ll finally get to use my pool pass.

  1. So many allergens out there. They should be marked clearly.
