Another this and that

So Aaron Judge hit home run #62 last night.  So exciting for Yankees fans. And for baseball fans.

Meanwhile the Mets have torn my heart out of my chest, thrown it to the floor and stomped all over it.   How do you lead the division all season long and then just before the season ends get swept by Atlanta and fall to second place?  Atlanta won the division yesterday.  At least the Mets will be the wild card, so still in the playoffs.  Where there is life there is hope.

And McNeil won the batting title, so …

Drew was so excited.  He was watching a show on tv and recognized the location where it was filmed.  We’d been there on vacation in August 2021.  It’s normal for us to recognize locations in NYC and environs — there’s a lot of filming going on around here — but the scene in the tv show was filmed in a small town in Maryland.  Sharp eyes…

And yes, it was a fun vacation.

I’ve finally mastered pork chops, made one the other day that actually came out good.  But now I’m trying to figure out why the steak I made yesterday was so tough.  It’s never been a problem before.

Guilty pleasure of the week:  apple cider donuts.  Need I say more?

Though I’m also planning to bake some pumpkin muffins later this week.

Yeah, it’s autumn.  The summer weather is gone for good …

We’ve been dealing with the remnants of Hurricane Ian these last four days.  Rain and wind and dreary weather.   It’s really nothing …  not like what happened in Southwest Florida.  Drew’s parents used to live in Cape Coral, we visited a few times.  So I’m familiar with Ft. Myers, Sanibel, Punta Gorda …the destruction is incomprehensible.

Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?

  1. So glad you finally figured out pork chops. Enjoy your autumn weather. We've cooled off too, but we were warned that it would be a warm season, so I'm waiting for it to heat up again. Ugh.

So sad about Florida. These storms are going to keep coming, aren't they?

    1. Hurray for figuring out pork chops; I hope whatever advice you received from readers helped. Florida....I've been to Sanibel a couple of times, and was to Punta Gorda in January 2020. The pictures of Sanibel broke my heart. While in Punta Gorda, incidentally we toured a sustainable development called Babcock Ranch and it was impressive but prices were way above what we could afford. Anyhow, they built so well (and they generate their own solar power so never lost power) that they were not greatly affected by the storm-I saw a Weather Channel report on them. I may just end up blogging about what I remember from our visit. Maybe. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
