Saturday 9

Back to December

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Back to December (2010)

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1) Taylor Swift sings that when her mind wanders, it usually returns to a specific day in December. How about you? Do you often daydream? Or do you focus on what's happening in the moment?

When I have to focus I do.  But I do tend to daydream …

2) She's looking back on December. We're going with a different take: As we enter November, what are you looking forward to this month?

Thanksgiving, of course.  My older daughter’s birthday.  Going out to dinner with three friends who celebrate birthdays this time of year.

3) The lyrics recount a casual conversation between two former sweethearts. They talk about their families, their careers and the weather. Are you good at making small talk?

I’m ok, not great.

4) This song was rumored to be about her break up with Taylor Lautner, the actor best known for playing a werewolf in the popular Twilight series. In acknowledgement of the Halloween season: Did you ever trick or treat as a werewolf, vampire, witch, ghost or other scary creature?

I’m sure I was a witch more than once. But my favorite costume … I went to a Halloween party in college, dressed as an alien.  I wish I had a photo.  I wore a black shirt, black pants and black boots.  I had a cape that was turquoise and gold lame, and sparkly gold antenna on a headband.  I used green makeup on my face.

5) Taylor is currently involved with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, and naturally this is his busy time of year. How's your football team (NFL or NCAA) doing this season?

I’m not a football fan. I prefer baseball. My daughter has the misfortune of being a Jets fan.  As a Mets fan I can sympathize.

6) Taylor loves chicken tenders and says she'd eat them every day, if calories weren't a consideration. If you were to enjoy tenders right now, what dipping sauce would you prefer --sweet/sour, barbecue or honey mustard?

All three are great.  Today I’ll have the honey mustard, thank you.

7) Thinking of food ... Taylor Swift recently donated $5 million to Feeding America with the funds earmarked for those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Does it make you feel good to do good? If yes, what is something you've done recently to help others? (It may give other Sat-9ers ideas for something they can do.)

Long Island Cares is one of my favorite charities.

8) Back in 2010, when this week's song was a hit, the iPod Nano was also popular. Did you have an iPod?

Of course I did.  I used to commute to work on the Long Island Railroad, and the only way I kept my sanity was by playing my music.

And I blogged about my iPod when I lost and then found my Nano.

9) Random question: Did you more recently run the dishwasher or the clothes washer?

Dishwasher.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Having music really helps in so many ways. I can't imagine life without music! Too bad you don't have that alien picture. It must have been fun!

#5 My brother’s family are all Red Sox fans and they have been awful quite lately, mumbling something about next year.

  4. I wonder what happened to all of those iPods. Are they stashed in drawers?

    1. I had to dispose of my nano when I put it through the wash. I bought an itouch. I don’t remember what I did with that one, I’ve moved 4 times since then

  5. My iPod was a staple of my commute, too. That and the morning paper. But since covid I've spent so little time on trains! I don't even know where that iPod is anymore.
