Another walk
So the weather has gotten colder. I wanted to take a walk, so I put on my favorite jacket …which is now several sizes too big for me. A 110 pound weight loss will do that, apparently.
Fall foliage is past peak around here. Many trees are bare, most are dropping leaves. A few trees apparently didn’t get the message that it’s fall and their leaves are still green.
But this tree …
Completely bare on top, still green at the bottom. Weird.
More signs of Thanksgiving,
A neighbor posted on social media that they found a deflated turkey …must have been carried away by the wind.
And an interesting way to recycle Halloween decorations.
After my walk I got trapped in my own back yard! Really!
The back yard is completely fenced in. You can access the yard two ways — either by walking through the house or by using the gate at the driveway.
The gate only latches on the driveway side, there’s no latch release from inside the yard. So if you go into the back yard from the driveway, you have to prop open the gate. But it was very windy and the gate slammed shut behind me.
Drew says he’s going to figure out a way to unlatch the gate from the back yard.
That Grinch recycled decoration is one of the best I've seen. Great job, whoever did it. I know the locked in feeling - once I was locked out getting my newspaper by a balky screen door latch. Ugh! And congrats on your weight loss. I'm about 60 lb less than I was 12 years ago (done in a different way) and it's amazing what that did for me.
ReplyDeleteNo one used to decorate for Thanksgiving, now I see quite a few inflatable turkeys. Congratulations on the weight loss. You and Alana have, hopefully, but me back on track!
ReplyDeleteA couple years ago I noticed a house (across the street from an elementary school) that had one of those huge skeletons. They left it on the lawn all year, but they dressed it up differently for each holiday. I remember noticing it for Valentine's Day. So, you'll have to keep going back to see if they keep dressing it up all year long.
ReplyDeleteThe house I grew up in had a similar gate to the backyard. We had a rope that we strung through, so on the other side you'd pull the rope to unlatch the gate on the other side. It was fiddly, but it did the job.
I’m curious to see what happens in January.
DeleteDrew is thinking about a rope for the latch.
Looks like a great day for a walk.
