Music Monday
May 11th Kentucky Derby has long been hosted this month since 1875. This event has a long history of traditions. Use some of the traditions or gallop with the ponies in your own direction sharing your song inspired picks this week.
I live 14 miles from Belmont Park, home of the third leg of the Triple Crown. (The race will be in Saratoga this year, they’re renovating Belmont.) But I did visit Kentucky a few years ago, on a business trip to Lexington. I had some free time, so I visited the Horse Park. I took a lot of photos of the horses. So when you ask me about the Derby …
First thing that came to mind.
And then there’s this
How about something from Broadway?
And country music
And some video I shot
The Horse Park was fun.
Great songs and live the Broadway song which, I'm thinking, comes from Guys and Dolls. Love the horses in your last video.
ReplyDeleteI've known the song from Guys and Dolls since being a little girl and only now do I find out, from this post, what its name is. The Horse Park is interesting. You made me remember that I intended to upload the video of the Kentucky Derby crowd singing My Old Kentucky Home but I got distracted and never did. So thank you for featuring it. As for Camptown Races, fun fact,: Camptown, PA (where Camptown Races were held, and still are, but they aren't horse races anymore) is about 40 miles from where I live. We've never driven through the town.
ReplyDeleteRun for the roses is a great song! I enjoy Dan Fogelberg's music . Wildfire would have worked٫ as well.
ReplyDeleteHi there great music and some new to me . I am not big on horse racing only ever been once in my life in Windsor. Which is why my post was about the days you will be celebrating in America this month. But here is one almost on theme.

ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day, m'dear! 💐
ReplyDeleteI would like to tour the Horse Park! Johnny Cash singing Camptown Races is a great choice and one I totally forgot about. What a fun pick! Thanks for joining the party and have a boogietastic week, Robin! xo
