Music Monday

Apr 27th America’s favorite past time for many starts up again for professional baseball players.  You don’t have to be a fan but it could be fun to pick songs that include the teams’ mascot. Stretch this prompt to fit your play set however you want!

Well, actually, the season began the last week of March, and Drew and I have been watching our beloved Mets for weeks now. We’re missing a few favorites who have left the team, we’re getting used to new faces.  Gary, Keith and Ron on TV, Howie Rose on the radio …all’s right with the world.

Even the disappointment feels familiar.

Our Long Island Ducks started their season as well, the first game we will attend is May 2.

I did a very elaborate baseball post two years ago for Music Monday  in July.  I’ll just post the highlights today.

The game can’t get started until …

This one is about some of the greatest in the sport.

My loyalty lies with a certain team

And 1986 was a magical year for my team

Of course, there is another team in NYC

They even inspired a Broadway musical

Another Broadway moment

And yet another

A little something from Peter, Paul and Mary

And I think we can all relate to Fogerty

Now, let’s go play some ball!

  1. Centerfield is a classic. The Peter, Paul and Mary song was new to me, and quite enjoyable. The classic Meet the Mets - straight out of my childhood. For that matter, there were the beer commercials broadcast on both Yankee and Met games, something maybe I'll blog about one of these days.

  2. Your post is full of fun baseball themed songs with most new to me, which won't come as any surprise. Your opening and closing tunes are familiar favorites. Thanks for sharing and for joining the 4M party, Robin. Have a boogietastic week! xo

  3. I just noticed you linked up twice, so I'm going to remove the second one since it's a duplicate. ;)

  4. Willie, Mickey & Duke is my favorite because those are the players I grew up watching. Fogerty's "Centerfield" is a favorite, I used it earlier. Right Field holds a special place because it was my position. We may not have always been the best fielder on the diamond, but we often had the strongest arm and would throw you out if you tried to score from second base. Have a very blessed week.
