Music Monday
It’s Super Bowl Sunday. I’m not a football fan, though I did buy a couple of boxes — you don’t need to know anything about the game, you just have to pick the right box/combination of numbers to win. I won $500 a few years ago.
I had no idea who Bad Bunny is until he was chosen for the halftime show, and I’ll find all the good commercials on YouTube tomorrow.
The rest of the entertainment …
Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Charlie Puth will be singing the national anthem ahead of the big game.
Additionally, Brandi Carlile will sing “America the Beautiful” and Coco Jones will deliver “Lift Every Voice and Sing."
I don’t really know any of them.
But then I heard who is also performing at the opening ceremonies.
Way back in 2005 I took my daughters to see a concert at Giants Stadium (since replaced by MetLife Stadium).
And tonight that band is playing the Super Bowl. (Skip the last two songs if you don’t mix politics and music. Skip the last song if you don’t like profanity.)
I haven't watched a halftime show in years and years. Halftime is for bathroom break, reloading your snack plate, checking your social media and visiting.
ReplyDeleteThe Superbowl Halftime show has been awful for years, just trash! We did not watch it, we turned into the TPN for their alternative halftime show which I enjoyed very much. Musicians entertaining, not making a political statement as it should be.Of course, I like that their platform faith, family, and freedom. :) We did see Green Day perform. I'm don't know the band members names but the frontman had the craziest hair. All I kept thinking was, if that's real then he must have used a whole can of hairspray to keep it shaped. lol They had a few good songs back in the day and I'm always reminded of our youngest daughter because she liked them. I love memory triggers like this! Thanks for sharing your music picks - great fun. Have a boogietastic week, darlin'! xo
ReplyDeleteYeah, Billie Joe Armstrong loves his hairspray!
DeleteI never watch football..er...sports..lol. i have seen the half time show afterwards. I watched it and it wasn't bad but I hate the tweaking and crotch grabbing the Michael Jackson made popular. It's stupid...lol. I like some of Green Day but not all. I also dislike the lead singer. I don't know what it is about him but I find him creepy and angry.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Green Day was going to perform so seeing them was an unexpected treat. I so love Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I have been so disappointed in recent half time shows but I did listen to this one. Several years ago, I read about Bad Bunny in the New York Times magazine section several years ago, before he became super-famous, The article predicted he would hit it big and he did.
