Drew and Robin’s not so excellent adventure
So last night we headed into Manhattan. We were supposed to attend a wine tasting. I don’t know where Drew got the tickets for the event, they were free, but they weren’t valid … no idea why …
The event was at a museum, the USS Intrepid. It was supposed to be a wine tasting on the outside deck, The Intrepid is permanently docked on the Hudson River at 46th Street. We took the train in from Long Island and walked from Grand Central. That meant we walked from the East Side, through the Theater District and Hell’s Kitchen, to get to the museum.
And when we got there and were turned away…we decided to grab some dinner.
Drew felt underdressed for a sit-down restaurant. We didn’t want to just grab a slice of pizza, even though I found a very interesting pizza place.
So we walked down to 42nd Street and took the subway downtown to Chinatown, for our favorite hole-in-the-wall.
It’s the second-oldest restaurant in Chinatown, in business since 1938. There’s always a line to get in. They don’t take reservations and they don’t accept credit cards. But the food is amazing.
Fitbit tells me we walked about six miles yesterday. And today I am exhausted.
A change in plans, but you worked out something nice anyway. For a restaurant to be open that long they must be good.

DeleteSo sorry about the bad tickets. That sucks. At least you found something else to do.
