And still more this and that

It hit 103° yesterday. I think we broke a record.

Commentary on the weather.

That song was recorded in 1966.  So long ago …

… we lost another artist from that era yesterday.  Bobby Sherman passed away.  Tribute will be posted Monday.

Nothing like losing the performers from your childhood to remind yourself that you’re getting older.

Though, to be honest, I feel better, healthier at 65 than I did at 55 or 60.  I’m actually taking care of myself, and it feels good.

So … I am determined to keep my mobility and flexibility as long as I can.  Lately I’ve been doing a lot of walking, as you know, but I’ve also used some workout videos I found in YouTube.   But I’m wondering if I should go back to the gym.  Pre-pandemic I joined Planet Fitness, but stopped going in 2020.  There’s a club here in Levittown, and they’re building a club in East Meadow — the new facility is actually closer to my house than the Levittown club.  I’m wonderful I should rejoin.

Because I see what happens to my friends who don’t take care of themselves, and it scares me.

  1. I remember watching Here Come the Brides on on old, old television that had been my grandmother's and was actually in my room. I was in 6th grade, and thought Bobby Sherman was so cute! Didn't we all? I too am reminded of getting older when I read the ages of singers I loved as a teen. They weren't really that much older than I was, I just thought they were. I need to take better care of myself. I take medication for things that wouldn't need medication if I lost weight. I have a gym membership with my Medicare Advantage plan. Went a lot last year, got out of the habit.

  2. First we had Brian Wilson, Sly Stone and Rick Derringer. (Yes, I know, there are others, but these were names I knew). Now we have Lou Christie, Mick Ralphs, and Bobby Sherman. Definitely not a good month in the music world. My tribute to Mick Ralphs and Bobby Sherman should also post Monday.

  3. Gyms are great if you go. Walking is great, too. There do seem to be a lot of deaths lately.
