Music Monday

 And the theme is …

MOVIES!

That’s quite broad, isn’t it?

I was at Becca’s house for Rosh HaShanah, and I was telling Brendon all about the things we did when Jen and Becca were little girls.   Back then Disney was experiencing an animation renaissance, with films like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.  Each time a new Disney movie would come out, I’d run to the Disney store and buy merchandise related to the new movie — a nightgown, a doll or stuffed animal, whatever else looked cute.  Then I’d put together a “movie premiere bag” and give it to them when we’d see the movie.

A few months later the movie would become available on videotape…and our VCR would get quite the workout.

So, today’s playlist …music from the Disney renaissance.

  4. I love the old Disney classic movies and these are some of the great songs that I like! They remind me of when my kids were little. :)

  5. Sounds like your kids had a similar childhood to mine, except we were never given the junk that filled our home. My son starred as Alladdin in the AZA production. He looked just like him, too. L'Shanah Tova!

  7. Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast are favorites. My girls really loved these movies. The Lion King came out when our son was small. I always thought it was just okay because I hated that the Mufasa was killed and that made me sad. I thought it was too much for young children. Nice selection of Disney classics, though. Thanks for joining the 4M party. Have a boogietastic week, Robin!

  8. Good ole Disney has become a powerhouse. You know, I've only seen Beauty not the others. I need to, one day, remedy that.

  10. The only one of these I saw with my then young son (on VHS) was Aladdin. He must have made me watch that movie about a million times but it never grew old. I could watch it right now! The other song I found stunning was The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a movie I didn't even know existed. It's a dark story for children but those visual sequences during the theme song - so powerful.
