Saturday 9

Ordinary People Welcome to  Saturday 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme. ORDINARY PEOPLE (2005) Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it  here . 1) In this song, John Legend sings that both he and his girl have "room to grow." What about you? In what areas would you like to improve? I am a disorganized procrastinaor... 2) He sings that when he hangs up in anger, she calls him back. Are you quicker to anger, or quicker to forgive? I've mellowed as I got older, I used to be very hot tempered. 3)  "Ordinary People" was John Legend's first big hit. H...

  1. This week's Hodgepodge lands on St. Patrick's Day. Will you wear green? Eat corned beef and cabbage? Drink green beer? Have you ever been to Ireland? Is it on your travel 'bucket list'? I can't seem to find anything green in my closet that's suitable for winter weather, so no, I'm not wearing green today.  I don't drink beer, but I did buy some Irish soda bread and I might have corned beef tonight.  Ireland is on my bucket list. 2. Something you think is 'worth its weight in gold'?  My Rachel Ray non stick cookware.  Never imagined I'd be in love with pots and pans, I'm not very "domestic", but these are great. 3. Something that makes you 'green around the gills'?  Very tall roller coasters, especially ones that loop upside down.  I can handle the coasters at Disney in Florida, they're not scary, but anything  that's tall and loopy and fast ... nope. 4. What puts a 'spring in your step' these day...

First up, the Irish Rovers Fred Astaire played an Irishman in this movie... I love Irish dancing Celtic Woman  A bit of humor from Tom Lehrer Now this last one isn't Irish...but Scott Shannon, my favorite NYC DJ,  plays this song on his show every St. Patrick's Day...   Oh, this is too much fun.  Let's have the Irish Rovers do an encore... HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

And the theme for today? Build a playlist of old rock & roll songs. But how do we define "old"?  The oldies station that used to play tunes from the 1950's and 1960's is now playing music from the 80's and the 90's.    Hmmm... So how about songs about rock and roll? Start with a classic: Gotta love Bill Haley.   Next up? A rerun from last week: You know Billy Joel has to show up somewhere: Let's just drift away ... Yeah, I want to be a Rock Star: Definitely a rock star. It's only rock and roll but ... I love rock and roll Let's get to the heart of the matter: Yes, this entire playlist has been a salute to old time rock and roll
