Wellness …
So when I was in the ER on Christmas the doctor ordered a slew of tests, including a few cardiac tests. All of the cardiac tests came back as “normal”. But the ER doctor said that sometimes the tests in the hospital don’t catch an intermittent irregular heart rhythm, so she sent me home with a heart monitor that I had to wear for two weeks. Of course the monitor showed a normal heart rhythm for the past two weeks — I don’t know why I fainted, but it wasn’t because of a problem with my heart. I may never know why I fainted, but at least I’m done with the heart monitor!
Fortunately I was able to exercise while wearing the monitor. I’ve been walking on the treadmill and doing chair yoga. I’ll be going back to Planet Fitness once the New Years crowds die down.
I am settling into my new job. It’s going to keep me very, very busy, but I am going to enjoy it immensely. Well, some of the things I have to do have been very frustrating, but overall I’m loving the new job.
This company is very much into the health and well being of its employees. They offer incentives for losing weight, going to the gym, visiting the dentist… you can save on health insurance premiums if you participate in the wellness programs. You can earn gift cards and othevthings. They cover a GLP-1 prescription (like Wegovy) but only if you participate in a behavioral modification program (where have I heard that before?)
Considering everything I’m already doing, I am sure I will earn a few incentives from the wellness program. This is going to be fun.
When I worked full time, I was able to participate in my company's wellness program. We could earn gift cards and they didn't have to be spent on health related items, but we didn't get discounts off health insurance. I could wish Medicare (not Medicare Advantage, which many programs do, but Original Medicare) offered some incentives like Silver Sneakers, because continuing to move and exercise is so important as you age. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI am changing Medicare Advantage plans next month. I only get Silver Sneakers, which we don't have here. It's not the same doing virtual. My old one paid more than enough for the local gym, which I liked a lot. But, my network dropped that plan, for good reason, they are being sued and haven't been paying out to the doctors!
DeleteAt least it's not a heart issue. Fainting for no reason isn't good, though. Maybe you'll figure it out eventually?
