Today is another “your choice” week; parody is next week.</p><p>Steve Lawrence passed away on March 7 at the age of 88. He earned fame both as a solo artist and as part of a duo with his wife, Eydie Gorme. She passed away in 2013.</p><p>As I mentioned on a recent <a href="https://songbirdscrazyworld.blogspot.com/2024/03/saturday-9.html" target="_blank">Saturday 9</a>, my late mother-in-law claimed kinship with Eydie. She always told us that she and Eydie were cousins. Both were Sephardic Jews from the Bronx. </p><p>Steve Lawrence was as Ashkenazi Jew from Brooklyn. </p><p>So let’s salute the music of Steve and Eydie.</p><p><br /></p><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/S4nz-PcVY8A?si=Q_NKGQX0N3YHUBQn" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /><div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6byA2zsPS7g?si=U-58QTXr_mfvfVSa" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> </div></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><br /><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/d9l--WWFwMg?si=Cq6V17kR-s3vPGy6" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7XpWOBEZLEs?si=JNIIFSEsS57G4V4l" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-lpzsNRJdzw?si=j-HxZPqFU3uUvDZM" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/XvscD0fla1I?si=2Eqy8mH2UKwVX1zx" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hj5IAzbkVvw?si=lqd32yiOFNp-urDn" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div><br /><div><br /></div></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/b6bPZrzQkIE?si=7zfAf9wUeoZ4BpdV" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/G6M2orrZgr0?si=BEOMbhDCx35qKQzq" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><!-- start LinkyTools script --><script src="https://www.linkytools.com/basic_linky_include.aspx?id=313027" type="text/javascript" ></script><!-- end LinkyTools script -->songbird's crazy worldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473854543986991104noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4643152976029610539.post-81093463036274690522024-03-17T08:26:00.004-04:002024-03-17T14:39:29.722-04:00Everyone is Irish today<p> Happy St. Patrick’s Day.</p><p>Everyone is Irish on St Patrick’s Day, right?</p><p>Last night drew and I went to a St. Patrick's Day event at one of our favorite restaurants. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. Hear it <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRBOFT1sL4I" style="color: #a90087; text-decoration: none;">here</a>.</span></h2><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">1</span>. This week's song is about a legend, Charlie Mops, the man who invented beer. Tell us about something you enjoy so much you could sing about it with the same enthusiasm the Salt Sea Pirates sing of beer.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Chocolate! Of course.<br /><br />2. The lyrics tell us beer goes well with breakfast, dinner and snacks. Think about what you dined on yesterday. What beverages did you have with your breakfast, your dinner, and your between-meal snack?</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I drink coffee in the morning. I have a terrible Diet Pepsi addiction and drink far too much of that every day. I should drink more water. I’m liking the flavored seltzer I just bought.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />3. "Charlie Mops" was chosen because it's an Irish drinking song and Sunday is St. Patrick's Day. Do you expect to raise a glass in honor of the day?<br /><br />We have dinner reservations for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at one of our favorite restaurants. I am sure alcohol will be involved.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />4. Beer is not the only beverage often dyed green for St. Patrick's Day. In 1970, McDonald's introduced the Shamrock Shake, a milkshake made with a minty green syrup. If we were to go out for shakes right now, what flavor would you order?</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Probably vanilla.<br /><br />5. Legend has it that wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, who can be mischievous pranksters. Is there anyone you would like to avoid today?</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Yes, but I can’t tell you who …<br /><br />6. For all our talk of green, it was not the original color of St. Patrick's Day. Through most of the 18th century, blue was worn across England and Ireland to honor St. Patrick. The Irish switched to green to express their independence from the English. Which color do wear more often: blue or green?</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Green, but I do like blue.<br /><br />7. Today St. Patrick's Day is observed all over the world. In Tokyo, it's not a single day but a weekend celebration. When you think of Japan, what's the first thing that comes to mind? <br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We love Japanese food. Can I get some sushi?</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />8. One of the biggest parades each year in Buenos Airies is for St. Patrick's Day. Have you ever participated in a parade?</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Yes, I’ve marched in a couple of local parades. I was a Girl Scout and our troop marched.<br /><br />9. Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA, crowns a Miss St. Patrick's Day. Tell us about an event you recall from your college days.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We had “Senior week”, which started right after finals and ended with graduation. It included lots of social events, like a boat ride on the nearby lake, a clambake, and a ceremony where we passed the torch to underclassmen.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><div>Thanks so much for joining us again at <span style="font-weight: bold;">Saturday: 9</span>. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. You load your groceries onto the conveyor belt (front of the photo). The cashier scans your items, then moves them to the bagging area at the other end, you can see the payment terminal/card reader in the middle, where the customer swipes a credit or debit card in order to pay for the groceries. Usually stores have multiple checkout counters arranged in rows, with narrow aisles between the stands.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgj_ZyOLpNI3DVgiLZci__CqIkXv4jVGU1RSuDK3NhVwYo6PlyFfmEavkMSqTEspkRTw-n7fQHV5xUHX2dPfqeAAhW_Gdl3Zc071ZNcpQExlj46EsGttLKDf_tITJ0MvZrSQsw-cT8DRnbCBCjsLbyF0Vhv4DFGA46qV_Q34gpjC2R_XDGMp_e4A6ZXyG2s" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="675" data-original-width="900" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgj_ZyOLpNI3DVgiLZci__CqIkXv4jVGU1RSuDK3NhVwYo6PlyFfmEavkMSqTEspkRTw-n7fQHV5xUHX2dPfqeAAhW_Gdl3Zc071ZNcpQExlj46EsGttLKDf_tITJ0MvZrSQsw-cT8DRnbCBCjsLbyF0Vhv4DFGA46qV_Q34gpjC2R_XDGMp_e4A6ZXyG2s=w640-h480" width="640" /></a></div><br /><br /><p></p><p>I went grocery shopping Saturday morning. The store was fairly crowded, as expected. I finished my shopping and pushed my very full cart to the checkout counter. I waited my turn, then unloaded my groceries onto the conveyor belt When the cashier began to scan my items, I moved my cart into the bagging area at the foot of the checkout stand and began bagging my groceries (here in New York we are encouraged to bring our own reusable bags; the cashier will help bag the groceries if you hand them your bags. Or you can purchase bags from the cashier, they’re no longer given away for free.)</p><p>As expected, the customer behind me began unloading his cart onto the conveyor belt while the cashier was still scanning my order. No problem, there’s a belt divider.</p><p><br /></p><p><img alt="Checkout Divider" class="img-fluid disable-visual-search" src="https://www.renzelusa.com/out/pictures/generated/product/1/650_650_75/r200181221-05i/checkout-divider-20.0181.221-1.jpg" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; border-style: none; box-sizing: border-box; caret-color: rgb(87, 87, 87); color: #575757; display: inline-block; font-family: "Open Sans", Tahoma, Verdana, Arial; font-size: 14px; height: auto; max-height: 67rem; max-width: 100%; pointer-events: none; text-align: center; vertical-align: middle; width: 744px;" /></p><p><br /></p><p>But when he stood by the credit card reader and put his hands on my groceries … I think his intent was to push my groceries further into the bagging area, I think he meant to help. But I said, “Please don’t touch my food.” He ignored me the first time I said it. I had to repeat myself, a bit louder and firmer, before he stopped.</p><p>But I still felt like he was crowding me. And I still had to pay for my groceries but I didn’t want him looking over my shoulder when I used my debit card.</p><p>So I told him to back up, away from the card reader. Had to repeat myself four times. Finally I said “Unless you’re going to pay for my order, move away from the card reader.”</p><p>That’s when he finally backed up.</p><p>Apparently “personal space” isn’t in his vocabulary.</p>songbird's crazy worldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473854543986991104noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4643152976029610539.post-52534427352560734382024-03-10T21:26:00.164-04:002024-03-11T07:18:18.433-04:00Music Monday <p><span style="font-family: inherit;"> Today’s theme:</span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The Sound of One Hand Typing suggested that we write a (clean) love story and use the names of two or three songs from the Top 40 on Valentine’s Day of some year. </span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">I haven’t written a short story since my creative writing class in high school. It was so exciting to finally be here! “<i>My hometown </i>is a <i>small town</i>”, she thought, “but the city is so vibrant, so alive.”</span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">And yet, it was also intimidating. She didn’t know a soul here. Back home, where everyone knew everybody, she didn’t have to guess if folks were being honest with her. But in the city? “<i>How will I know</i> if someone is being sincere?” She didn’t want to be taken advantage of. Yet she didn’t want to be lonely, either. </span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">She walked back into the apartment. Average height…olive complexion…curly black hair …and surprisingly, piercing blue eyes. Money was exchanged as he handed the bag to her, “See you tomorrow?”</span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">She looked into his eyes. A perfect day for a walk. I walked in my neighborhood. Fitbit says I walked for about 2 1/2 miles. </p><p>I’ve discussed my neighborhood <a href="http://songbirdscrazyworld.blogspot.com/2023/07/and-we-have-moved.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://songbirdscrazyworld.blogspot.com/2023/10/skywatchfriday-walk-through-neighborhood.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Levittown is the quintessential planned suburban community, the prototype for suburban development in the post war era. I love walking through a Levitt neighborhood and seeing all the alterations and embellishments made since the homes were built in the late 40’s and early 50’s.</p><p>One house I really like added a roof deck over the garage.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgebDiQl16r-voKJI62iUf5slN4yui67LCuBpX30pK634F8MmxTLSZiXP0n7MrsZFWa8LRiUK7zu5iaH8LNvP18oXLZ_8xBcu0eYZvnWTgFboPQ2P1mHWEMEAiJL3yuKu370vyK1Y92CqbWSWUdlbq-U_FoKS_hq0uKqAhDxd7W2KDt8gVHa_a5jmLIGCUJ/s4032/PXL_20240303_183003007.MP.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgebDiQl16r-voKJI62iUf5slN4yui67LCuBpX30pK634F8MmxTLSZiXP0n7MrsZFWa8LRiUK7zu5iaH8LNvP18oXLZ_8xBcu0eYZvnWTgFboPQ2P1mHWEMEAiJL3yuKu370vyK1Y92CqbWSWUdlbq-U_FoKS_hq0uKqAhDxd7W2KDt8gVHa_a5jmLIGCUJ/w480-h640/PXL_20240303_183003007.MP.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>It doesn’t look like it’s a usable deck, but it does add something to the appearance of the house.</p><p>But if I walk a bit north, the neighborhood changes … </p><p>Instead of winding lanes typical of a Levitt development, the streets are laid out in a grid pattern. Do you think age matters in a romantic relationship? </span></span></p><p><span face=""calibri light" , sans-serif"><span style="font-size: medium;">To some extent, yes. Once every four years we add an extra day to February. Through some singular coincidence--I shouldn't be surprised if it were owing to the agency of an ill-natured fairy, you are the victim of this clumsy arrangement, having been born in leap year on the twenty-ninth of February. It’s an old farmhouse, dating back to when this community was still rural. There’s nothing remarkable about the old house, except for its location.</p><p>The house is surrounded on three sides by land belonging to the local elementary school. The <a href="https://dutch.hicksvillepublicschools.org/dutch_lane/news/telling_our_story__dutch_lane_elementary" target="_blank">school website</a> mentions the house when discussing the school’s history. I’m sure the farmer who built the house owned the land that’s now the school and the park, and probably some of the neighborhood houses are on the former farm as well. I can’t help but wonder why the house wasn’t torn down when the school and the adjacent park were developed. I’m sure there’s an interesting story …</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div></div>songbird's crazy worldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473854543986991104noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4643152976029610539.post-67239663071543457122024-02-25T20:41:00.031-05:002024-02-26T07:24:46.911-05:00Monday Music<p> </p><p><br /></p><ul style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: Imprima; font-size: 20px; list-style: outside; margin: 0px 0px 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;"><li style="box-sizing: inherit; line-height: 25px; outline: 0px;">Feb. 26 You have two theme choices this week – <strong style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;">#1</strong> <span style="box-sizing: inherit; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; outline: 0px;"><em style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;"><strong style="box-sizing: inherit; outline: 0px;">It’s National Pistachio Day, so how about spelling pistachio using Song Titles (or Artists/Bands if you prefer). #2 Since it’s a leap year, build your picks with “leap” or “jump” song titles. </strong></em></span></li></ul><div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 20px;"><b><i><br /></i></b></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 20px;"><b><i>Hmmm, which to choose?</i></b></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 20px;"><b><i><br /></i></b></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 20px;"><b><i>Let’s start with a classic by Harry Belafonte</i></b></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 20px;"><b><i><br /></i></b></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 20px;"><b><i><br /></i></b></span></span></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kMXBJW1PuU8?si=UVvh7AjoENkhVi3W" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div>We have to have something by the Boss</div><div><br /></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ouWEZPkbznQ?si=m4Vmu7KRhlpUS8b2" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div>Let’s get moving with some Van Halen</div><div><br /></div><div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SwYN7mTi6HM?si=WFbR9bWNH6t0l17C" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div>The Stones</div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qGd7SkdETro?si=koOkhfYo8Khtu0Yh" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe> <div><br /></div><div>Manilow? The Long Island Expressway runs east to west almost the entire length of the island, carrying traffic between Manhattan and Riverhead. The Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway (not-so-fondly referred to as the SOB) carries traffic north from Seaford to …Syosset. The road was supposed to continue north to Oyster Bay, but they never finished it.</p><p>Parkways, on the other hand, were designed to be scenic, picturesque roadways meant for casual driving. When the Master Builder Robert Moses designed Long Island’s parkways he never imagined that they would become major thoroughfares from over congested suburbs around the island and into the city. </p><p>Drive on any of our parkways — the Northern State, the Southern State, the Meadowbrook, the Wantagh — and you will encounter very low overpasses, some with as little as 9 feet of clearance. Consequently commercial traffic is banned on the parkways.</p><p>And yet … yesterday on the Northern State I saw a 12 foot truck on the side of the road, right in front of an overpass with less than 11 feet of clearance. And there was a police officer writing a ticket. A well-deserved ticket.</p><p>At least he had the good sense to stop before he hit the overpass. Disaster averted.</p><p><br /></p><p>Unlike the guy in this video:</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/35C2-8GrdDA?si=Hx7JqTej8Kn-QrXB" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe>songbird's crazy worldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473854543986991104noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4643152976029610539.post-48789921809631585232024-02-18T22:26:00.071-05:002024-02-19T08:13:45.656-05:00 Music Monday <p> Another “your choice” week</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiKbRmopvXenw481BoBMkcoyuNvAyBiYrQ_v-UK140hSHw6sNJBqTsNb6kejifeitIqOmkG_DGCROQpRX06xc-pkUzADdN_OzbWzpdviNdkT3P_hdQAog_VTOW0OyimZnJ84XXdBqRdZHXA7Q5m1arVh2DBvb1Z_KUC6dJE-lN2-E-Rq2UFomrs6Hou-FD/s4032/PXL_20240205_015051904.MP.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiKbRmopvXenw481BoBMkcoyuNvAyBiYrQ_v-UK140hSHw6sNJBqTsNb6kejifeitIqOmkG_DGCROQpRX06xc-pkUzADdN_OzbWzpdviNdkT3P_hdQAog_VTOW0OyimZnJ84XXdBqRdZHXA7Q5m1arVh2DBvb1Z_KUC6dJE-lN2-E-Rq2UFomrs6Hou-FD/w480-h640/PXL_20240205_015051904.MP.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p>That’s Jimmy Webb.</p><p>You may not know his name, but you certainly know his music. The reason Jen was cat sitting for us … Drew and I were in Philadelphia. You’ll recall I mentioned he sees a specialist at Temple University Hospital. He needed minor surgery. We had the pre surgical consultation Wednesday, surgery was Thursday, and we came back to New York Friday. He’s recuperating on the couch right now. </p><p>So Jen had to give me a ride to the mechanic Saturday to pick up my car. When the cats saw her come back to the house … I think they were worried Drew and I were leaving again. </p><p>But happy happy! The car repair cost significantly less than the estimate. </p><p>So we didn’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day, since it was the night before the surgery. We exchanged cards, but obviously couldn’t go out to dinner. And today is my birthday. We’ll celebrate next weekend.</p><p>Yeah, this is what 64 feels like. </p>songbird's crazy worldhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11473854543986991104noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4643152976029610539.post-40905345255820794432024-02-16T19:00:00.027-05:002024-02-16T19:00:00.128-05:00Saturday 9<p> </p><h3 class="post-title entry-title" itemprop="name" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; caret-color: rgb(50, 50, 50); color: #323232; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, "Palatino Linotype", Palatino, serif; font-feature-settings: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-size-adjust: none; font-size: 30px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; position: relative;">Paper Doll</h3><div class="post-header" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #985454; font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, FreeSerif, serif; font-size: 14.72px; line-height: 1.6; margin: 0px 0px 1em;"><div class="post-header-line-1"></div></div><div class="post-body entry-content" id="post-body-8933979407255091725" itemprop="description articleBody" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; caret-color: rgb(50, 50, 50); color: #323232; font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, FreeSerif, serif; font-size: 15.455999px; line-height: 1.5; position: relative; width: 558px;"><p></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"></span></p><span style="font-size: medium;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-zqHWYZvuVNTcV8vhhObiBKC8IRLT0yMHF-VfuEW9GjIf9cuH4RDcPLt4mNJON3R5FQAeQV0M-qgMZTfbyFq_vfGpYx34xBnxgmgUxwCWm3K6lLcYzWCskzud33e_7D-jenlkvuI5SPYFTpduMHqTslzvVGUCZOa9eLcEksYTYjS3DigHNM3aJKOQaIoc/s817/Screen%20Shot%202024-01-06%20at%209.21.36%20PM.png" style="clear: right; color: #a90087; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-decoration: none;"><img border="0" data-original-height="817" data-original-width="810" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-zqHWYZvuVNTcV8vhhObiBKC8IRLT0yMHF-VfuEW9GjIf9cuH4RDcPLt4mNJON3R5FQAeQV0M-qgMZTfbyFq_vfGpYx34xBnxgmgUxwCWm3K6lLcYzWCskzud33e_7D-jenlkvuI5SPYFTpduMHqTslzvVGUCZOa9eLcEksYTYjS3DigHNM3aJKOQaIoc/s320/Screen%20Shot%202024-01-06%20at%209.21.36%20PM.png" style="-webkit-box-shadow: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5) 1px 1px 5px; background: repeat rgb(255, 255, 255); border: medium; box-shadow: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5) 1px 1px 5px; padding: 8px; position: relative;" width="317" /></a></div>Welcome to <i><b>Saturday: 9</b></i>.
